Hi, I’m Taylor—welcome to my Substack! I’m so happy you’re here. I’ve been talking about starting this for a year, and now, I’m finally doing it.
I’m a 29-year-old living in Boston and pursuing a JD/MBA at Harvard. But five years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me I’d be here. I started out in investment banking at Goldman Sachs, quickly realized it wasn’t for me, and pivoted to the startup world in San Francisco, where I loved what I did. Then, I left it all behind (including my long-distance boyfriend, more on that later) when I got the happy news that I’d been accepted to HBS. Safe to say, my 20s have been nothing if not unpredictable.
Now that I’ve almost survived 1L, I want to use this space to talk about what I’m learning, listening to, and obsessing over. I feel lucky to be surrounded by smart and fun people every day, and this is my attempt to capture that and share it with you.
Here’s what you can expect (for now):
Sharing a weekly Sunday post on everything I listened to that week—podcasts, audiobooks, and anything that stuck with me. I’m always sending friends podcast episodes I know they’d love (or that made me think of them), so consider this my way of doing that at scale
Exploring health & wellness, beauty, and fashion—because I love discovering up-and-coming brands, testing new products, and optimizing my routines (sometimes obsessively)
Reflecting on career, ambition, and grad school—because I’ve navigated a lot of twists and turns to get here, and I want to share what I’ve learned along the way
And honestly, I want to write a book one day, and the only way to get better at writing is to practice. Prof G recently said that writing is the hardest medium, but it’s also the one that moves people—and, in a world that moves fast, it’s one of the few things that lasts. That was the final push I needed to finally start this.
See you back here on Sunday for the first edition of “Hear me out”!
