Happy Fourth of July weekend!!! I’m spending it in the Hamptons with my law school besties, and I can’t imagine a more American weekend than that.
But before we get there, let’s do one last look back at my favorites from June. This one’s heavily inspired by my recent travels to France, San Francisco, Park City, and beyond.
1. Flabelus shoes
All the effortlessly cool girls in Paris were wearing these, so obviously, we stopped by the store to see what it was all about. Flabelus is known for its velvet Mary Janes, but it was summer, so I picked up this pair and have been wearing them nonstop ever since. They’re light, chic, and go with everything.
And I’m already daydreaming about the pair I want to get for Fall!
2. Call Her Alex & My Mom Jayne
Tribeca Film Festival came through with two standout documentaries this June: Call Her Alex and My Mom Jayne. I’ve always loved a good behind-the-scenes story, and these both delivered, offering raw, emotional, and inspiring portraits of Alex Cooper and Mariska Hargitay. If you’re anything like me, you’ll cry.
3. Tennis (all of it)
One of my life goals is to be able to play tennis and not embarrass myself.
But even from the sidelines, I’m a fan. Seeing the greats compete at Roland Garros, from Coco Gauff to Carlos Alcaraz to Jannik Sinner, was truly incredible. It also sent me down a complete tennis rabbit hole, so I read The Inner Game of Tennis (we love a self-help book) and Carrie Soto Is Back (Taylor Jenkins Reid, you get me).
P.S. Wimbledon is on, and you should tune in. The all-white dress code alone is worth it!
4. Polene bags
Polene is the French leather goods brand I didn’t know I needed until Paris. I left with the Cyme in camel and haven’t looked back. It’s minimal, structured, and still under-the-radar, but LVMH, through its private equity firm L Catterton, acquired a minority stake in September last summer so you know it’s good.
5. Needlepointing
June was the month I became a needlepoint girl. And I’m not alone, as needlecraft canvas sales are up 88% year over year (!). It’s all part of the “granny core” movement, a collective craving to downshift and disconnect. Be warned, it’s addictive.
My favorite online boutique is Penny Linn, with new arrivals added daily. I just ordered this Tuckernuck Sign Ornament because why not?
6. Beli App
Beli is like a prettier, more functional Notes app for tracking your favorite restaurants. It was founded by two HBS grads, and while I haven’t done a full upload of every restaurant I’ve ever loved (intimidating), I have started adding new spots as I go.
7. Renting cars
After back-to-back weekends renting cars in Naples and Park City, I’m officially sold. I feel like we all default to Uber now, but sometimes it’s nice to just... drive. Especially in cities where you want to explore.
8. Waymo
And when I’m not renting cars, catch me in a Waymo. If you haven’t tried a self-driving car yet, Waymo is expanding rapidly, from SF to LA to Austin. They’re spotless, safe, and just the right amount of futuristic.
9. Goodles Microwave Cups
Goodles, the better-for-you Kraft Mac & Cheese brand, just launched their version of Easy Mac last week. They’ve already sold out, but you can join the waitlist with me here. Can’t wait to try these bad boys!
10. Ballerina Farms Market Tote
When in Park City in said rental car, we took a road trip to the Ballerina Farm Stand. It was so charming and wholesome. Along with a Farmer Protein Chocolate Milk which was to die for, I also left with this market tote. I can’t explain it but it’s the best tote I own.
Until Sunday,
Taylor
It would be interesting to find out what the antibacterial treatment is on inside of these shoes?
